Business Coaching with Violette: Event Planning, Social Media Pillars, Using AI Wisely + Finding Your Ideal Clients
Monday, October 19, 2026 · Part 2 (7 PM session) · 36 minutes
In the evening session, members asked how to plan events without surprise costs, how to grow on social media, where AI helps and where it hurts, and how to find clients when you’re not getting them yet. Violette’s thread through all of it: people do business with people they know, like and trust.
What we covered
1. Booking a venue and negotiating your event (2:45)
Share your vision with the venue: the type of event, whether you need a mic or A/V, and your mission. A woman owner or manager from the venue can even say a few words to your guests.
Get everything in writing. Ask whether the price includes tax, gratuity and food-and-beverage minimums. Violette’s example: a $35-per-person dinner came with a $2,000 minimum, which made it about $67 per person.
Add payment processing fees (PayPal, Venmo, Square) to your ticket price, so there are no surprises and you don’t lose money.
Confirm your point person and every detail a few days before the event. Budget for rentals like linens, tables and A/V.
2. Growing on social media to reach beyond your local area (9:15)
Build trust first, because people hire people they know, like and trust. Share advice, education and things that make people smile.
Choose your content pillars: the three to five topics you’re known for. Violette’s personal brand focuses on silver hair, midlife wellness and “bougie but thrifty” finds.
Answer your clients’ real questions. After a client meeting, turn the questions they asked into posts like “5 questions I got this week” or “One hack you probably don’t know about.”
3. Should we use AI for content? (14:20)
Use AI for research and editing, such as what’s trending in your industry and proofreading. Ask it to cite its sources.
Don’t let it write everything. AI-written posts and graphics start to look and sound like everyone else’s, and that erodes trust. Keep your own voice, typos and all.
Your captions matter more than ever. Instagram now creates AI summaries of your videos from the audio, on-screen text and caption, and those can show up in Google and AI searches. Instagram and LinkedIn are especially visible to AI search.

4. How do I get my first clients? (20:55)
Define your ideal client clearly. Who are they, and what are they struggling with?
Fall in love with your ideal client. Where do they spend time? What do they read? What apps do they use? What words do they use when they search for help?
Talk to them before you sell to them. Hop on calls just to learn about them, and listen for their vocabulary. It’s often very different from your industry terms.
Collaborate with people who already serve them. Come to the table with what you bring, so both sides win. That partner’s trust becomes your stamp of approval.
Stay close to the people you serve. That’s how Violette builds FemCity programming: by listening to what members need.
Your action steps this week
Write down your three to five content pillars.
Turn the last questions a client or prospect asked you into a post.
Use AI for research or editing this week, but write the post in your own words.
Write a one-paragraph description of your ideal client: who they are, where they spend time and the words they use.
List three people or organizations who already serve your ideal client, and invite one to coffee.
Business Coaching with Violette is held every third Monday at 1 PM and 7 PM ET for Online, Local and Global members.
