We caught up with Michaella to talk about 2020 pivots and what 2021 will bring!

What was the biggest pivot you took on this year?

Taking control of my health. I was sick and tired of talking about how sick and tired I was; I stopped giving myself excuses and just changed my direction!

Where did you find the support in taking on your pivot?

Through a friend who put me in touch with a naturopath. Her office is 2 hours away. It was the best "road trip" of my life!

What advice would you share to women looking to pivot a big change in their life?

Find a group of humans who will support you (FemCity - hint hint). Write down the BIG change and then work your way backwards to clarifying the first thing you need to do to climb up that BIG change ladder; for example: make the call, send an email and then follow up and follow through on what you said you would do.

What are ways that your mindset also pivoted this year?

When the pandemic started, I was coming off of a busy couple of years at work. My role in the entertainment and sports industry is very social; when connecting with people was taken away for safety reasons, I began to suffer mentally; my bandwidth to digest and process info was next to zero. I started to meditate (I was not a meditating person), but I found an app that works for me. When too many days go by without my meditation time in the morning, I feel it.

What is the biggest lesson you learned in 2020?

The biggest lesson I learned is you need to take time for yourself. I am known for saying, "you need to put your oxygen mask on first before helping others," but I was not practicing what I was preaching. Now I listen to my body, and when I need to take a moment or 3, I take a moment or 5 (I always include a buffer).

What about 2021 excites you most?

I am looking forward to a few things in 2021. I have a few personal projects on the go that I am excited to dive into, a COVID vaccine being administered, hosting people in my home and using all of my dishes, live concerts with fans singing and finally - hugs; I am excited for every single hug I will be handing out for free!

Final advice for those looking to create a fabulous 2020?

There is still lots of time left in 2020 to do something magical, you simply need to take the first step.
