The mission of ICW with Katie’s vision for the company is to ensure members have complete understanding of their options throughout the development process in addition to their legal options when it comes to their own intellectual property and deciding which professional to use to create their product. She created Katie Kupstas PR in order to help ICW members with local and national media opportunities in addition to relationship building to enhance their business. Katie has worked for corporate YSL and Ralph Lauren. She helped them launch new products in the Washington DC and Philadelphia markets through merchandising, events and promotions at Metro West, Tyson’s Corner Nordstrom, Macy’s Pentagon City Mall and King of Prussia Malls. She always thinks big and is eager to share her large network with her clients and members when there is a good fit to increase their likelihood of success.
We caught up with Katie to talk about 2020 pivots and what 2021 will bring!
What was the biggest pivot you took on this year?
ICW went from launching in-person events to all online and we are thriving because of it.
Where did you find the support in taking on your pivot?
The support from ICW came Zoom an other professionals in our company being flexible to hop on Zoom calls to share their knowledge with our membership community.
What advice would you share to women looking to pivot a big change in their life?
Don't wait for the perfect time to do it because there will never be a perfect time. Don't overthink it and just get started.
What are ways that your mindset also pivoted this year?
I stopped overthinking every detail and instead just did my best to overcome any hurdles that came my way.
What is the biggest lesson you learned in 2020?
The biggest lesson I learned in 2020 was that I did not need to get to every event and wait for the success to come. I just had to get started, go with the flow, be willing to be flexible and the success will come eventually if I work for it.
What about 2021 excites you most?
The groundwork has been laid in 2020 for ICW so I am excited to see what the future holds for 2021.
Final advice for those looking to create a fabulous 2020?
Be flexible and willing to learn something new. Get outside your comfort zone even if that means staying in your house and learning a new online platform. This year I have incorporated Slack into my company and it is a great way to connect with all of my ICW teammates and keep all of our projects on track.
