Downfall Inspired Flora Gutierrez to Empower Entrepreneurs
I am a marketing enthusiast and I'm also pivoted into Virtual Office Asst. Love to empower and help others...
What was the inspiration to start this business?
I was working as a VP for my ex-husband's Information Tech business and I was the face of the company. I decided to open a company as a Marketing Consultant since I gained so much experience and knowledge. Just knowing that I was given a 2nd chance in life by being a 21-week preemie definitely kept me going.
When you started your business, did you ever envision that you would be where you are now?
I did envision myself as successful but I didn't envision my 21+ year marriage ending. I did accomplish a lot from the time I opened my own business and starting FemCity Cape Coral and Fort Myers was epic.
Was there ever a time that things didn't fall into place, struggles, or challenges? What were they and how did you get past it and grow from the experience?
It was truly challenging to start from the bottom up after I got divorced in 2017. Being an entrepreneur does give you a different perspective and it does become difficult to work for someone else. I was able to rely on many of my FemSisters, family, and close friends who were my support. I've learned to show others how to never give up, have a financial game plan professionally and personally and also find ways of learning more than one area in business. BE more diverse
What was the biggest lesson you learned while starting and growing this business?
The biggest lesson that I learned was to be coachable, learn to say no more often, and stay connected with everyone through the good and bad. Never work with family and closest friends because it did burn me in the end.
What would you tell a FEM that is struggling in her business and feel like it's too difficult?
Reach out to your closest business colleague that can give you a helping hand. Find resources that are free that can help you in areas where you need an extra boost. I've decided to hire a business coach vs becoming a part of a networking group at this time.
What continues to inspire you to keep on growing your business?
My family, kids, and boyfriend, and those people who know I will be there no matter what life throws at them.
