House of Intuition is a metaphysical brand dedicated to helping people achieve healing, transformation, empowerment and personal growth. We offer spiritual tools and classes (online Zoom classes and previously classroom style courses) with the goal of enlightening, empowering and elevating the community.

What was inspiration to start this business?

We, Marlene Vargas and Alex Naranjo, founded House of Intuition together in 2010 as a spiritual detox center but it has morphed into something totally different now. As Latinx LGBT founders, our mission from the start has been to help others feel hope when they feel hopeless, feel powerful when they feel defeated and to bring intention within when seeking outside of themselves.

When you started your business, did you ever envision that you would be where you are now?

Never, we did not have a customer who walked into the store for 6 months! This month, we are opening our 8th location in Orange County, even during a pandemic!

Was there ever a time that things didn't fall into place, struggles, or challenges? What were they and how did you get past it and grow from the experience?

2020 is a pretty good year where it was all about the unexpected. Having to close all retail locations, operate with a skeleton staff, shift all business online and trust our team to work together required a lot of communication, trust, and hard work. Nothing replaces hard work.

What was the biggest lesson you learned while starting and growing this business?

To stay open, non-conforming, and flexible to what your customers want while staying true to our original mission.

What would you tell a FEM that is struggling in her business and feel like it's too difficult?

Developing your business skillset and your intuition are all muscles we can develop, practice and improve.

What continues to inspire you to keep on growing your business?

Love, wellness and magic! We have a book coming out in 2021 so we've been working on that during quarantine too.

Final advice for those thinking of starting a business or looking to grow their current business?
