Cristie Besu: Slowing Down and Setting Boundaries in 2022

Cristie Besu

How are you preparing for 2022?

Who we surround ourselves with and how we spend our time is so important. I am preparing for 2022 by eliminating energy and noise that doesn’t align with what I envision for the year.

Cuban-American Cristie Besu started baking Eat Me Guilt Free treats straight from her very own kitchen in 2013 while working as a registered nurse and certified sports nutritionist. What began as a passion project soon turned into a small business for the mom-of-three, as she discovered the importance and satisfaction protein-packed and better-for-you foods provided to others.

What was the biggest lesson you learned from 2021?

The biggest lesson I learned in 2021 is that integration is key. In 2020 we all had more time to spend focusing inward to come up with intentions for ourselves personally and professionally. In 2021 when it came time to integrate what we had planned, I realized that integration of a plan is much more challenging than creating it.

How are you preparing for 2022?

Who we surround ourselves with and how we spend our time is so important. I am preparing for 2022 by eliminating energy and noise that doesn’t align with what I envision for the year.

What advice would you give other female founders that are looking to create big success in 2022?

Taking the time to slow down even when you feel like you won’t get everything accomplished is one of the most important lessons I have learned over the last seven years of owning my business. I used to exhaust myself working endlessly, trying to find solutions and working toward the goal. I saw a drastic change in how much faster I could get results when I finally set boundaries and made space for myself to restore and quiet my mind from the business and I was able to come back 10x stronger. I am not suggesting vacationing all the time, however 20 minutes of a change of environment in the beginning or the middle of the day works miracles.

What’s your 2022 mantra?

"Always make space for your imagination to run wild.”
