3 Tips for Holiday Gathering Anxiety // Violette de Ayala

I’ve always envisioned the week of Thanksgiving as the kick off to the holiday season.

With the holiday season upon us, so are family and friend gatherings. It’s such a blessing that we may be able to gather safely and enjoy the energies of others.

At times, we are surrounded by energies that don’t bring us utmost joy and may even dampen the way we feel about ourselves. Sometimes the specific energies of others may not be the best for us. This sometimes can be classified as negative energy that some omit and it causes us to doubt ourselves or totally make us feel like poop. Not every soul meshes well with our soul and that’s alright. We aren’t for everyone and not everyone is for us.

If you’re anxious about the holiday season and gathering with others that don’t vibe with your vibe, here are some tips that have helped me in the past.

1. Prepare energetically

Spend more time that day meditating and getting centered. Often what knocks us down when we gather around energies that aren’t best for us is that we ourselves aren’t grounded and centered and can easily “fall”. Spend time meditating, walk outdoors and connect to your most peaceful place. I personally spend time doing my morning medication, light my favorite candles, repeat favorite mantras (from my book… 😜) and even do some sage burning or incense. Spending time outdoors also helps me to prepare my soul.

2. Strategy

Coordinate and schedule time with people that are really good for your vibe as this will water down the effects and diminish the power of the energies of others that aren’t good for your soul. As an example, if Thanksgiving Day is historically rough on you, schedule time with your bestie that morning or afternoon. Or both! Surround yourself with awesome energy like bookends It’s like anything that’s a bit too much, if you add something to dilute it, it’s not as strong and taxing. Your super yummy friends dilute the icky energies you may pick up from others.

3. Envision a bubble of protection

When I worked in a government role a few years ago, I created this technique as some meetings I attended were literally insane and filled of crazy and unstable energies. I solved this by sitting in my car, prior to meetings, and envisioned an invisible bubble that encapsulated me with positivity. This invisible bubble also prevented any energy from coming in. I know it sounds crazy. But it works!

I hope these tips help those that are anxious about gathering with others this week.

PS. You can also love from afar and start to send them love and positivity through meditation.

The world and all of us are just starting to spiritually heal from all we’ve been through.

Finally, give yourself love and spend time repeating words filled with self-love.

It’s totally alright for you to focus on you.

And oh yeah, I love you. You’ve got this. ❤️
