Aura Legacy: Building the Firm Her Grandmother Would Have Recognized

MARI DELGADO

Your Relationship With Money Is a Relationship With Yourself

What was your passion in starting Aura Legacy?

Aura Legacy is named after my grandmother, Aura, who was a pioneer in Colombian banking at a time when very few women held that kind of seat at the table. Watching her navigate a world that wasn't built for her, and do it with so much grace and conviction, shaped how I think about money long before I understood what a financial plan even was. I started Aura Legacy because I wanted to build the kind of firm she would have recognized: one rooted in trust, in real relationships, and in the belief that women deserve thoughtful guidance through the biggest transitions of their lives, not a pitch. My mission has always been simple. I want more money in the hands of women, and I want them to feel confident, informed, and supported every step of the way.

What do you wish women knew about finances?

I wish more women knew that you don't need to have it all figured out before you're allowed to start. So many of my clients come to me feeling like they should already understand their investments, their tax strategy, their long-term plan, and they carry a quiet shame around not knowing. But financial confidence isn't something you're born with. It's built, conversation by conversation, decision by decision, and it's never too late to start building it. The women I work with are brilliant in their own fields, running businesses, raising families, leading teams, and none of that makes financial planning any less confusing on your own. You're allowed to ask questions. You're allowed to bring in help.

What's the one thing we can all do today to improve our connection to finances?

Look at one number. That's it. Open an account you've been avoiding, check a balance you've been ignoring, or ask one honest question out loud, even if it's just to yourself. So much of our disconnection from money comes from avoidance, and avoidance grows in silence. The moment you look, even briefly, you take away some of its power over you. I've watched that one small act of looking turn into real momentum for so many of my clients. Clarity doesn't require a whole weekend of spreadsheets. It can start with five minutes and one number.

Final advice.

Your relationship with money is not separate from your relationship with yourself. Give yourself permission to take it seriously, to ask for help, and to imagine a future that's actually yours, not the one you inherited or the one you think you're supposed to want. Whatever stage you're in, starting out, rebuilding, or planning a legacy, you deserve a guide who sees the whole picture with you. That's what I'm here for.
