Chi Cheng Lee : From Harry Winston to Female Founder
Chi Cheng Lee, a jewelry designer for 35 years, previously worked with luxury jeweler Harry Winston for 15 years before branching out on her own. Chi’s Creations Jewelry collections are sold online, in over dozen retail locations in Western Canada as well as major retail exhibitions in Canada and USA. She also works with her clients to repurpose their neglected old jewelry with fresh, custom designs and to create new perspectives for their heirlooms.
What was the biggest lesson you learned from 2021?
It’s been a roller coaster over the past 2 years … but life goes on! Managing a small business is always a challenge. 2021 was all about changes, being adaptable and going with the flow. Throughout the year, I tried to stay positive and take the time to step back and plan for the future each time a new obstacle pops up. That meant quickly switching my business approach to cater to different market venues as they morph.
How are you preparing for 2022?
Set new goals and focus on what needs to be done now and for the future direction of my business. Stay positive and enjoy what I do. Support and work closely with wholesale partners to prepare for any new challenges.
What advice would you give other female founders that are looking to create big success in 2022?
Stay focused and stay on course. Be ready and prepare for any new changes. Continue to grow and add new skills while learning from your environment. Appreciate the support you receive from your customers and don’t be afraid to ask for help when needed.

Be true to yourself, enjoy what you do and take one day at a time.
