Kelly Peaks Horner
Lucy Leadership Project & Horner Education Consulting Group
Founder, Author, Culture and Executive Education Coach
Kelly Peaks Horner is a bold, deeply experienced education leader, executive coach, and advocate for justice and well-being in schools. With over 30 years of experience in teaching, leadership, consulting, and training, she has helped shape schools, systems, and leaders across the country.
Kelly is the founder of the Horner Education Consulting Group, where she serves as a strategic partner to district, school, and team leaders. She supports them in building the conditions necessary to unlock the full potential of their people and resources. As atrained executive coach and completion of Brené Brown’s Certified Courageous Leadership Training (2019), focused on building leadership capacity through trust, vulnerability, values alignment, and difficult conversations, she blends research-based courage-building tools with real-world strategy, helping leaders cultivate thriving, courageous practices. Her coaching sits at the intersection of strengths, well-being, vulnerability, and bold leadership — supporting individuals and organizations in creating lasting impact.
In 2023, Kelly published the bestselling book Unwrapped: The Pursuit of Justice for Women Educators, a powerful call to action and healing co-authored with Dr. Kendra Washington-Bass. That same year, she co-founded the Lucy Leadership Project, a national initiative to dramatically increase the number of women leading schools and districts — and to ensure they’re not just surviving leadership, but thriving in it. Through coaching, community, and capacity-building, Lucy Leadership helps women lead in full bloom. Throughout her career — from classroom teacher and school administrator to 16 years as a senior consultant at Gallup — Kelly has remained fiercely committed to helping people and systems evolve with clarity, courage, and care. Her mission is to disrupt how women are traditionally developed and supported in education, and to reimagine leadership as something that nourishes both the leader and the system they serve.
She lives in SW Virginia with her husband, Steve, and is the proud mother of two adult daughters, Madison and Shelby.
