About Our Guest // S.A. Rodriguez is a Latina children’s author, born and raised in Puerto Rico.
Before pursuing her passion for writing, she managed Hispanic and diversity marketing for Citibank and supported research, educational, and entertainment content initiatives for a digital media agency. She studied Communications at Loyola University in New Orleans and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami.
Growing up by the sea, she often fantasized about pirates and mermaids and all things lurking in the deep before committing her dreams to fantastical tales that integrate Latino voices and Caribbean history and themes. When she’s not writing, you can find her chasing sunsets and enjoying ocean adventures in the Florida Keys, the backdrop of her debut middle-grade novel, Treasure Tracks.
Rodriguez is an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Las Musas, Diverse Dreamers, and a passionate supporter of We Need Diverse Books.
She considers her household a mix of frijoles and habichuelas, blending the Puerto Rican and Cuban cultures of the Spanish Caribbean which are reflected in her stories.
She enjoys living near the coast of Miami where she raises three boys and is actively involved in educational and cultural initiatives.
