Jane 1530: Where Confidence Plays

Jane Fifteen Thirty started with a simple idea. Women’s golf clothes should fit women. It has evolved into something more than that. Golf can be intimated for women and our mission is to create products that inspire women to play well on the course at home and in life. We build confidence through inclusive sizing and putting women top of mind during design.

What was the inspiration to start this business?

I love solving problems and that is how Jane 1530 started. I had been golfing for 20 years and couldn't find golf clothes that fit and made me feel great on the course. I thought other women probably had the same problem so I decided to fix it. Make clothes that fit all types of women.

When you started your business, did you ever envision that you would be where you are now?

I worked in corporate marketing for over 20 years and if someone would have told me I would start my own business at 48 I would not have believed them. To be honest I wasn't sure where this adventure would take me. Today, my brand is in over 30 golf clubs and stores across the country and my brand is evolving every day.

Was there ever a time that things didn't fall into place, struggles, or challenges? What were they and how did you get passed it and grow from the experience?

Challenges happen almost daily--production houses with delays, product launch decisions, marketing challenges, design decisions and of course time management. So things not fallen in to place happens a lot. Owning a business has been super rewarding and humbling. I can't even put a number on the mistakes I have made and I really can't put into words how much I have learned over the last 3-4 years but probably the most important lesson is to evaluate the set backs, course correct and keep moving forward.

What was the biggest lesson you learned while starting and growing this business?

"The difference between success and failure is the ability to take action," Alexandre Graham Bell. It's an old one, but it's true. It is easy to step back and look at what isn't going right and talk about what should be happening. It's harder to put those words into action items.

What would you tell a FEM that is struggling in her business and feel like it's too difficult?

Questioning yourself is human nature. Things do become difficult and those feelings are real. What separates you is how you answer those questions. Have the confidence to answer and move forward.

What continues to inspire you to keep on growing your business?

Jane 1530's mission is to create products that inspire women to play well on the course at home and in life. I believe fashion, style and confidence is for everyone and I truly want to help women learn, love and have fun on the course, at home and everyday.

Final advice for those thinking of starting a business or looking to grow their current business?

Remember that anything is possible and why not you!
