Exploring Our Artistry

I’m always thrilled by creative synchronicity. That’s why I’m incredibly excited that the newest FemCity Founder’s Member offering launched in January 2025 is devoted entirely to supporting each other’s creative endeavors. Wow!

Each Thursday at noon EST, FemCity Founder’s Members are invited to connect with talented businesswomen worldwide for a “Creative Hour.” I’m so grateful that FemCity had the vision to provide a dedicated, focused time for us to encourage and support each other to work on our creative projects weekly, share our experiences, and bring our dreams to life.

As a poet, I desperately need this type of creative accountability. I’m a very quiet person prone to spending a lot of time inside my own head (and up in there, gosh, it gets loud – ha)!

During “Creative Hour,” there’s no pressure. We simply show up, log in on our private Zoom, and connect. We are safe to share as much or as little about our projects as we want.

The opportunity to participate within a community while working on our passion projects is such a nurturing, feminine idea. In this era of accelerated technological advances, holding onto our unique and sacred humanity is critical. Our ability to learn about the world using all five of our human senses -- in tandem or individually -- sets us apart from artificial intelligence (AI). Our uniquely human way of feeling and sharing brings art to all life forms.

Humans are designed to be creatives. We are live wired to recognize and create beauty.

For almost two decades, I’ve been working with THE ARTIST’S WAY: A SPIRITUAL PATH TO HIGHER CREATIVITY by Julia Cameron. THE ARTIST’S WAY bestselling book was released in 1992 and is widely available in libraries, local bookstores, and on Cameron’s website.

Cameron lays out her Basic Tools (the Morning Pages and the Artist’s Date) that, when combined with walking, weekly readings, and exercises, help each of us realize we are already creative artists in our own way, regardless of our job title. Although anyone can read the book on their own and do the 12-week program individually, I’ve found I get much more out of it when I’m in a community. Reach out if you’d like to hear more or wish to join a free, online Creative Cluster with those of us reading and working with THE ARTIST’S WAY now.
