How Sarah Porter is Running Full Steam Ahead in 2022

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Sarah Porter has become a Miami local. Before joining SWARM in 2015, Porter lived and started her career in Miami’s esteemed hospitality industry when she was 18 years-old. Now, as Vice President of SWARM, Porter is heavily involved in the operational aspect of the company day-to-day, including production, logistics, partnership development and F&B services.

What was the biggest lesson you learned from 2021?

When it comes to leadership, performance is key but ethics are everything. Hiring leaders who are high level performers is important, but if they don’t share the same values as you, ultimately, they will compromise your culture.

How are you preparing for 2022?

For the new year, we are staffing up, enhancing the services we provide and eliminating "can't" from our verbiage. 2022 is the year of 'yes.’ While others are scaling back and saying no because of the post-pandemic climate, we are saying yes, and not only yes, but "hell yes.”

What advice would you give other female founders that are looking to create big success in 2022?

My advice is: “full steam ahead.” There are a lot of vacuums waiting to be filled because of the current pandemic culture. Now more than ever your business will stand out if you do more because clients are becoming accustomed to businesses doing less. In 2022, if you commit to doing more while everyone else is doing less, you will shine brighter.

What’s your 2022 mantra?

Hell yes we can!
